Well treatment number 1 went well – the Drs agreed to
increase the intensity of the threshold setting from 80 to 85, to match the setting
that I last had in Ponoka. I was relieved because, if it’s too low it could be
just a waste of time.
A little bit about the treatment – one treatment consists
of:
Frequency: 10 pulses/s
Number of pulses in train: 60 pulses
Inter-train interval: 60 s (the break between the trains)
Number of trains: 25 trains
Specified number of pulses: 1500 pulses
Stimulation intensity 110% of Motor Threshold
During the pulses it feels kind of like a
woodpecker, pecking at the top of your head. Not really painful, but not all
that comfortable. During the treatment today the pulses kept hitting a nerve in my cheek, around my eye, but no real pain it just twitched every time. It also sent a
strange sensation down my jaw and through my teeth, but again not too painful
(maybe it's the metal in my teeth, hmmm).
So no headache when I got home just some tension in my neck
and jaw, which I also had in Ponoka (hopefully a good sign that we were
hitting the right spot)…
About 2 hours after the treatment I became totally exhausted. It felt like I just worked a 14 hour day (this is also something that happened
in Ponoka). I couldn’t sleep, but I couldn’t keep my eyes open. At writing this
I am still wiped, I think I am going to try and go to bed early (maybe)…
Included are a couple of pictures.
One is of the machine:
The paddle they put against your head to administer the pulses.
The final picture is the chair upon which my ass rests, as I get zapped.
I will try and get more pictures for tomorrow’s blog. Perhaps one of the
beautiful cap (sans me), and the view I get to look at during the treatments.
My pdoc has volunteered to come in on Saturday, so that I at
least get to have 4 treatments this week with only a one day break, which is
totally awesome!!!!! He is a good man, no matter what they say J
